Massapequa Park, that residents are enjoying some positive vibrations, especially when it comes to living there.
The new US List News & World Report’s 2025-2026 of the best places to live in America ranked Massapequa park at the top of the Empire State List, although the Nassau District Village is still leagues away from country number 1, which is a plane trip away.
The narrow knit village on the south coast of Long Island enjoys a strong public school system, nearby beach access and a suitable trip to New York City for those going to the office.
The list rated a total of 850 cities and cities for affordability, job prospects, crime levels and other quality indicators of life – and a public study gave weight to these criteria to determine the best 250 points.
While the Massapequa Park was ranked first in Empire State, it was listed only 140 on the list of 250 separate cities. (New York City, meanwhile, performed much, much worse. Big Apple ranked 797 out of 850 metros surveyed.)
“Gray excellent, I’m here for 52 years, came from the city to Maspeth, moves here. People are great, the city is great, the food is excellent.
New Yorkers are ready to look for the suburban Quintesential experience of the Long Island offered by the village. The average home of the Massapequa park sells for $ 746,500, according to Realtor.com. This is more than twice the average sale price nationwide in 2024, excluded the New York City.
Massapequa’s reputation took a hit in 2023, however, when one of its 17,000 residents, Rex Heuermann, became the first suspect in Grisly Gilgo Beach’s serial killings. Heurmann’s arrest shocked the suburban community at the time.
Local residents are releasing in the good news – Long Island hardly made an appearance on last year’s ranking, in which Buffalo led New York Pack. Massapequa park leader Danny Pearl shared news about the latest difference of news and world report on Facebook for largely enthusiastic answers.
“We knew all together!” Write a Facebook user.
“I’m very proud to live here,” commented another. “Beautifully beautiful.”
Others were less excited.
“Please don’t transmit this,” wrote another user. “We don’t want all hipsters to move here from the city and get the values of our captured property.”
The best difference of the list went to Johns Creek, Georgia.
Suburban city 25 miles from Atlanta city center prides itself on a high quality of life thanks to a strong labor market and high desirable results. Indeed, the years from Covid have seen a number of residents from all over the nation go to Atlanta and its surroundings to begin new life.
Skylar Topper, a real estate agent in Atlanta and local Johns Creek, told us News & World Report that the city is “very idyllic”.
“Growing up here, we called it a little bubble because it’s such a good place to live,” Topper said. “It has always been a very desirable area.”
Carmel, Indiana, who claims the largest number of roundabouts in the country (150 in total) grabbed second place.
No single meter in the northeast violated the best ranking of the list, which was dominated by cities in Indiana, Texas and North Carolina.
