A California teacher has been accused of cruelty after giving bonus points to students who don’t take bathroom breaks during class.

An upset parent of one of the teacher’s students revealed the strange bathroom rule in a post that has reached over 16 million views on X.

“My daughter’s math teacher has a rule that they only get one bathroom card a week, AND, if they don’t use it, they get extra academic credit,” said the mother, named Sita, whose daughter is in the teacher’s class. unidentified. .

“I’m wild,” continued the mother, without identifying her daughter’s age. “But my daughter is mad that I want to email the teacher and CC the principal. Am I wrong here?”

This strange test of vesical strength did not sit well with the X-viewers, who considered it frightening and inhumane.

“Asking permission to use the bathroom is barbaric,” said one critic.

“This is outrageous. The teacher is not fit for service,” declared another.

A third remarked: “Some children may have a medical condition, it seems like this policy would be unfair to them.”

One supposed educator asserted that extra credit should be reserved for those with a mind of steel and not a bladder of steel.

“I am a high school teacher. This is wrong. It is immoral, unethical, discriminatory and extremely disturbing,” they wrote. “Grades should be based purely on academic ability (not behavior). I literally can’t believe this is happening in the 21st century.”

However, some commenters supported the no-pee policy, claiming it is intended to discourage students from using the bathroom as an excuse to socialize with each other.

Sita also shared screenshots of alleged messages from teachers, who argued that the policy was not cruel because extra credit was not mandatory.

“Extra credit is just that: extra,” one of the messages read. “That bathroom rule isn’t hurting anyone’s grade because no one should rely on a few points just to make a grade. Try being a teacher for a day and get out [with] a better solution for managing chronic bathroom abusers.â€

Sita did not say whether or not she ended up emailing the math teacher in question or school administration officials about the matter.
