Elon Musk’s Tesla is suing one of her former engineers allegedly stealing trade secrets about his highly anticipated optimous humanoid robot.
The defendant is Jay, who bonded the humanoid robot startup proception inc. After working in Tesla from August 2022 to September 2024, according to the appeal filed with the San Francisco Federal Court on Wednesday.
The lawsuit claims that he, who works on “advanced robotic hands sensors -and entrusted with some of the most sensitive technical data in the program”, downloaded optimus files downloaded on two smartphones.
He began proception less than a week after the leaves and the beginning claimed to have built humanoid robot hands with a “wonderful resis” to optimize just five months later.
“Instead of being built through innovation, judgment and legal technical severity, the defendants received a shortcut: theft,” the lawsuit states. “They mistreated Tesla’s most sensitive materials, bypassed the laborious development process, and started a company based not on the original detection but on the stolen work.”
Tesla is seeing “compensating damage and example” unspecified against him, as well as an order that prohibits Li and his associates from using any of the company’s trade secrets. The company also requested a jury trial in this case.
The proception is based on Palo Alto, Calif., According to its LinkedIn site. He lists himself as the founder and CEO of the beginning, which he says is “Treating one of the most challenging and exciting humanoid projects of our time.”

In success, Tesla’s Atttorneys said the successful construction of an advanced robotic hand is “one of the most challenging tasks” in robotics.
“Although Tesla does not detect accurate investments from year to year in optimus, research and development costs are in billions of dollars,” the lawsuit said. “Such an ambitious project requires unparalleled expertise and considerable time and financial commitment to even increase progress.”
Musk has repeatedly described the tesla optimus robot as essential to the company’s health and long -term growth.
The billionaire specifically demanded the advanced hand of the Optimus robotics when calling the company’s profits in January.
“My long -term prediction is that the optimus will be wholesale the value of the company,” Musk said at the time.
