David Weinreb, former chief executive of Howard Hughes Corp., has placed his Penthouse in West Chelsea on the market for a $ 75 million look positioning him among the most spent property property in the center of Manhattan.
The widespread condo, located at 551 W. 21st St., mixes in design with high finishes, including a kitchen created by renowned chef Jean-Georges vongerichten, and reflects an increasing trend of ultra-luxury sales in the area.
There is also a large private pool, considered “the largest private outdoor pool in New York City,” says List.
Weinreb, who took the public Howard Hughes and led the company for nearly a decade before retiring in 2019, won the $ 6,500 -square -foot raw space for $ 38 million, according to Wall Street Journal, who first reported on the list.
Now the leader and CEO of Weinreb Ventures, a real estate investment firm, initially ranked the unfinished unit in 2021 for just less than $ 50 million.
After 10 months without a buyer, he decided to complete the construction.
“I believed in the design and I knew his finish was the right thing for the home,” Weinreb told the newspaper in an email.
“I wish I could spend more time in Manhattan,” Weinreb told his decision to share ways with the unit.
He is also sharing ways with a sprinkled hanging, now perfect for the weather becoming better.
“For the best of our knowledge, the largest private pool in the city,” the post of the Compass Lissing List Clayton Orrigo told The post, who is marketing the property along with Stephen Ferrara. “It”s’ s tall 61 meters. I’ve never seen a pool almost so big. They are usually very difficult to build. That’s giant.”
In addition to its length, the pool stands 10 meters wide and 4 meters depth.
“The pools are usually half the size of this. It is very difficult in terms of weight,” Origo added. “Basically a developer will have to build it to run immediately from the gate. It’s not something you can add just given the weight of the water.
The finished pentouse is generally a testimony of meticulous handicrafts.
The kitchen, designed by Vongerichten, a close friend of Weinreb’s, feels a double-line of 87-inch-inch accents with bronze and enamel accents, completed by gaggenau-included devices, an espresso car, a steam oven and a wine cabinet.
“This is my idea of a dream kitchen,” Vongerichten said in an email to the magazine.
Elsewhere, the settlement boasts the conclusions of the “Museum Quality”, according to Oririgo.
The visible details include 12-legged bronze-coated doors, 4-inch thick in primary suite, each weighing approximately 800 pounds, and a primary bathroom with Italian marble engraved.
The Penthouse offers five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and wide views of the Hudson River, Freedom Statue and Empire State Building with windows from floor to ceiling across.
A sculptural ladder leads to a 4,600 -square -foot private terrace, complete with the pool, a full bath, a construction grill and a soft clutch.
Meanwhile, the building itself, designed by Foster + Partners, includes devices such as a closed yard, a 20 -legged green wall, a gym, a yoga room and a residential hall.
The list reaches the middle of a wave of high profile transactions in downtown Manhattan. In March, a $ 60 million sale in 150 Charles St. set a new Condo record for the area. If this house sells for its required price, it will exceed that agreement.
Other visible deals include a $ 57.5 million Penthouse in a converted Perry road garage that entered the contract last year, with another unit in the same building demanding approximately $ 85 million.
“It’s a little of a new norm,” Origo told the newspaper. “It’s not like,” hey, there is a single apartment that is $ 75 million. “Now it’s a whole class of these.”
Unlike many new developments in the still under construction neighborhoods, Weinreb’s pentouse is ready, a major advantage for buyers who look immediate occupation.
“If someone wants to transaction and want to move right away, there is not much to buy,” Origo added.
