Standing along the ERIE historic channel, the small village of Fairport, New York – a home for about 5,400 inhabitants – has provided a place among the most competitive markets of American housing, ranking fourth in a new analysis of the hottest neighborhoods of 2025 by Redfin.
The design sets this Western New York enclave in Elite Company, along with urban centers like Prospect Heights of Brooklyn and San Francisco’s Gulch Polk, signaling a tremendous increase in its tree lines and wastewater charm.
Redfin’s methodology examined increased year by year in the ranking of points in the ZIP codes in the 150 largest metropolitan areas of the country, comparing data from January and February 2024 and 2025.
The meteoric growth of the Fairport reflects the broader tendencies in Monroe County, which include nearby Rochester and most recently the highest New York housing market, connecting for the fourth national places to sell a home.
Only a 15-minute car from Rochester, Fairport has seen an intensively purchased interest.
In the first two months of 2025, 81% of the houses sold above looking for the price, taking an average of $ 350,000 – a 9.4% jump from a year ago.
Properties that remain in the market for only eight days, two days less than in 2024.
“Like the Rochester real estate market in general, ask in the fairport is strong and the inventory is low, which means that most houses sell for more than their list price and kidnap within a week,” Kimberly Hogue, a local Redfin agent, said.
Often called the “Jewelery of the Crown of the Erye Canal”, Fairport builds on the small town with recreational and cultural drawings.
Residents and visitors equally liked, boat or walk along the channel – while Main Street eclectic shops add vibrancy.
The village public school system ranks among New York, and its social scene occasionally excels in Star Power, as when comedian Jimmy Fallon falls from the Irish pub and Mulconry, owned by a close friend.
“Fairport is a separate destination,” Hogue said.
