West Village space once used by famous artist Roy Lichtenstein – where he preserved his personal collection of art and summer – sold Tuesday for $ 5.5 million, according to data obtained with the city register.
Lichtenstein’s iconic painting, visible for their use of bold lines and daylight points, made it a pioneer in the world of pop art. His industrial approach to art gave more than 5,000 paintings, prints, drawings and other objects throughout his life.

The buyer’s identity could not be identified immediately, but their name in City Records-Whaam-Nomad LLC-SUGGESTS that they are at least familiar with the work of Lichtenstein.
Lichtenstein shared his time between Manhattan and Southampton until his death in 1997. He was survived by his wife Dorothy, a well -known philanthropist. Dorothy donated more than 1,000 of her husband’s works in great museums before her death last July, according to her New York Times necrology.
Dorothy’s wealth undertook the latest sale, represented by Lee Ann Jaffee and Steven Sumser in Compass.
The fortune also ranked the Southampton couple’s long home last year for $ 20 million, which remains unsold.
